First MASCLab Meeting of Spring Semester this Monday, 1/26!

Dear MASCLab,

It’s been too long! I am extremely excited to see you all this Monday, 1/26.
We will meet in 322 TH, 12:30 – 2pm.
We will talk about our wish lists for the semester, how to make them happen, some exciting news for the group, and if we have time share media!
If you are new to MASCLab, we are an interdisciplinary group of people interested in the roles of media in scholarship, as scholarship, and in social change. We make media, we watch media, we think about how to use media production and consumption in research, and we think about how to research media production and consumption, among other things! We are interested in broadening conversations that often remain cloistered in the academy through the use of media.
Just a few of the things we accomplished last semester:
A happy hour in which we learned about transmediating Scott Pilgrim w/ our own Brendan Gillett- A screening of the documentary Unequal Ed Revisited with community partner EVC attended by over one hundred people- A multimodal analysis workshop with our own Kristin Gorski, Several members produced audio and video materials with and for community partners, We learned about the education systems of South Africa and Greece through media with Stella and Joanne–and that’s just a few of the things!
There’s been enough interest from people that can’t make Monday that we are going to try adding a second meeting on either Tuesday or Thursday. Please come to Monday if you can, especially the first meeting! But if you can’t email me and please include your availability on Tuesdays and Thursdays!
see you soon!
